run. the politics are everywhere.

Normally, I don’t give in to matters outside my control. I’ve learned a long time ago that it’s a waste of time and it doesn’t do one much good to be using up all that energy towards something i cant control. Logical right?

But sheesh, this shit just pissed me off.

So tonight the Grammy nominations came in. If you follow my twitter, you’ve already seen my angry tweet-tirades.

Now, I mostly agreed with everything and the ones that I didn’t, at least, they were all justifiable. BUT as I’m looking through the list, I see something about Beyonce. Beyonce got nominated for a LIVE performance of Halo under the Best Pop Female Vocal Performance. Sounds familar? Well, that’s because LAST YEAR, she got nominated for that same bullshit! UNDER THE SAME CATEGORY. Yes, this is true. Check wikipedia. I’m serious.

::Sidebar:: I am not the biggest fan of Beyonce. She’s a great performer, sure but overly hyped about for her vocal talent (or lack of), in my opinion. ::End sidebar::

Now, like I said before, I wouldn’t really give two cents about Beyonce. But, here’s the kicker, LADY GAGA (who I adore) got cheated out of the Best New Artist category LAST YEAR because the year before that (2008), she had already gotten nominated for her first single “Just Dance” off her album BUT her album had yet to be released. The rules stated that Best New Artist nominations cannot have ANY Grammy noms in the previous years. BUT this year, they changed it because there was such controversy. Oh, but guess what, there was no retroaction. Thus, Lady Gaga will never be Best New Artist b/c her “new” year ended. And, with no apology from the Grammy Committee.

::Sidebar 2::This rule has already been put into action and Best New Artist nom Drake has already been reaping this benefit. I am NOT happy about this. ::End Sidebar 2::

NOW, they can nominate someone for the SAME damn song in the SAME damn category 2 years in a row but they can’t nominate someone for a category that they haven’t even released their album for yet just because they had ONE song nominated the year before?

Of course, their decisions don’t reflect the actual opinion of the fans who listen and buy these artists’ music. Nope, they’re these music corporate executives. Ugh.

I hate politics. This is bullshit.

GAGA fo’ life.
